ABOUT THE OWNERS

Because Everyone has a Story …

In 2017, Sam & Kelly McEvoy purchased Salmonier Country Manor. After surviving 25 years of marriage and 3 children, all while running a full time fishing enterprise, their driven spirits thought “why not”. Both Sam and Kelly always welcomed a challenge and set out on this business venture full of well developed plans and dreams for providing true Newfoundland hospitality to those visiting. This was very evident to all guests who were fortunate enough to be hosted by Sam. Night time story telling and laughter in the parlour after eating one of his hearty Newfoundland meals is one of his common souvenirs. Sam had a true passion for cooking. He was also well known for his quick wit and great conversations. Unfortunately, Sam is the part where it becomes a “story”.

You see, while in the process of purchasing the manor, Sam was diagnosed with cancer. Not letting it stop them, he fought his strong battle, all while continuing to offer full hospitality to his guests. Again showing his true devotion to his business. Yet, despite he’s admirable battle, in 2019, Sam lost. Kelly lost her husband and business partner, their children lost a father, and the inn lost its co-owner, chef, and spirit.

Since Sam’s passing, Kelly has fully devoted herself to honouring Sam at the inn. She aims to portray Sam’s business minded ways and extremely likeable character by promising an inviting atmosphere with listening ears, hearty jokes and story telling like no other. Something Sam was found of, to instill his spirit in each passing guest, Kelly has also since taken on the role of chef. Continuing to serve mouthwatering meals in “Sam’s Bistro” as a way of honouring his passion.

When in the presence of Kelly and her staff at the manor, you will experience Newfoundland hospitality at its finest. Come visit Salmonier Country Manor where smiles and laughter are free, just the way Sam would like it.

We can’t wait to hear YOUR story! 🖤
